Amaranth Ridge Vineyard is located in
the Umpqua AVA, just 5.5 miles east of historic Oakland, Oregon at an
elevation of 623 feet. Initial plantings were in the spring of 2004 and
specialized in non-traditional red varietals from Northern Italy and
Australia produced naturally. These include Lagrein,
Sangiovese,
Nebbiolo, Barbara, Pinot Noir, Dolcetto, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Syrah. Ground preparation began in 2003
previous year with mechanical methods of ground clearing versus chemical
spraying. The organic material was then chopped and tilled under to
begin the process of increasing the natural release of micronutrients
through soil interaction.
Amaranth Ridge utilizes
natural
resource management and
alternative energy production
since 2003. (Contrary to local newspaper articles). We have
deployed implementations of solar and wind generation along with
rainwater catchments for use at the vineyard, winery and support sites.
We also utilize and customize electric carts for use in the vineyard
versus the diesel or gas engine utility vehicles found commonly
throughout this industry. |
